European forum promotes mix of education and technology

The European Innovative Teachers Forum 2009 that took place from March 24 until March 26 in Vienna, Austria and that is organized every year by Microsoft ended on Thursday.

During the official closing of the forum, projects made by students won awards in four categories – Innovation in Collaboration, Innovation in Content, Innovation in ICT, and Teacher’s choice.

The students made their projects using information and communication technologies (ICT). The event promotes the integration of ICT in education, so that students can develop technology skills.

The projects in the first three categories were judged by a jury, while the awards in the fourth category were given by the participating teachers (more than 150), who awarded 3, 2 and 1 points to their three best favorite projects. The Netherlands project "Sound Lottery" was awarded a special prize of the jury.

The first award in the category Teacher’s Choice was presented to the Bulgarian project "Journey Trough Bulgaria." The Belgian project won second prize and the Azerbaijan’s project won third prize.

The Bulgarian project "Journey Trough Bulgaria" won also second prize in the category Innovation and Collaboration. First prize went to the Serbian project "The Story about Bread" and the third prize was awarded to the Slovenian project “Nature Explorers”.
