Energex inks A$7 million deal

08.06.2006
Utility organization Energex in the Australian state of Queensland has inked a A$7 million (US$5.18 million) contract with services firm and systems integrator Tusc.

It is the biggest deal Tusc has won in its 25-year history and involves the implementation of a field force automation (FAA) project.

Scoping work has commenced and the implementation phase will be completed by year's end.

"FAA will provide significant logistical advantages in each step of the power network construction, maintenance and restoration process by improving the productivity and efficiency of our field staff through smart job allocation and team dispatching procedures," said Tusc workforce management solutions general manager, John Avramidis.

"The real winners will be 2.7 million electricity customers in southeast Queensland who'll have power-related services tended to sooner."

Avramidis said the company will implement Advantex, a workforce management system, from Mobile Data Solutions to automate the utility's field force operations.
