Currell said the corporation has two million customers spread across 2.5 million square kilometers.

It directly employs more than 2,200 people, and its operations during 2005-06 generated more than $1.4 billion in revenue. CSC Australia managing director, Mike Shove, said the contract is a testimony to the work that CSC has undertaken on behalf of Water Corporation over the last eight years.

"The win further strengthens our presence in Western Australia and reaffirms our position as WA's largest provider of IT services," he said. With more than 700 employees in WA, CSC serves regional government agency clients such as the Department of the Attorney General, Department of Corrective Services, Department for Infrastructure and Planning, Office of Shared Services and WA Police.

CSC also provides IT services to commercial enterprises in WA, including Woodside, Alcoa and BHP Billiton.
