According to Sirota Consulting LLC, 32 percent of nonmanagerial workers rate the respect they receive from their company's management as "so-so," "poor" or "very poor." How can employers turn those numbers around? It's not that the employees who feel they get no respect are being abused, says David Sirota, chairman emeritus of the company. "But indifferent treatment, such as failing to recognize and reward employees for jobs well done, has an enormous impact on how employees feel and on employers' ability to retain them," he says.
