Behind the scenes on Boolab's Alzheimer's campaign

Barcelona-based animation company has recently completed a powerful for the Fundació Pasqual Maragall's initiative, through the agency Externa Comunicación. The ad aims to raise public awareness and funding for investigation into the disease, and combines an experimental style with a powerful message about the devastating effect of Alzheimer's on the brain.

We sat down with director Nico Casavecchia to find out more about the creation of the piece.

DA: What was the brief for the project?

NC: "The brief involved the use of the electric activity on a brain scanner. In the original script, the colours over the brain image got washed away by the sickness. From the beginning, I liked the idea of working with a brain scanner, but I needed a twist to express the complexity of human emotions."

DA: What were your conceptual ideas behind how to create this?
