The new system will replace the existing manual records management system.

With an annual budget of A$72 million (US$54 million), the council provides services to about 50,000 people and employs 277 staff for the beachside city of Redcliffe, which is about 35 minutes north of Brisbane.

The council has selected Objective software to provide a repository to manage drawing plans, digital pictures used for construction and records. Some 200 users, including engineers, commercial and economic development staff, planners, accountants, local law enforcement and surveyors, will use the solution.

Redcliffe council's CEO, Bob Holmes, said Objective was selected for its search capabilities and ease of use.

"It will integrate with existing computer systems such as our property system which stores all correspondence relating to an individual property including rates notices, building applications, and noise control complaints," Holmes said.
