The Asia Pacific continues to be the best performing region for global converged network infrastructure supplier 3Com Corporation, according to its latest results released today.

Announcing its financial results for the fiscal 2009 third quarter (FY09), which ended February 27, 3Com said the Asia Pacific contributed to 64 per cent of global earnings. China, in particular, drove overall financial performance by delivering year-on-year revenue growth of six percent.

With TippingPoint, 3Com is a major provider of network-based intrusion prevention systems that deliver in-depth application protection, infrastructure protection, and performance protection.

Overall quarterly revenue dip

Overall, 3Com's revenue in the quarter was US$324.7 million, a 3.5 per cent dip from the corresponding period in fiscal 2008, but income turned positive at US$1.9 million. Revenue for the first nine months of FY09 also increased five per cent from the year-ago period to hit US$1.022 billion.

"I am very pleased with 3Com's performance in the quarter, especially given the current economic conditions," said 3Com CEO Bob Mao, "Our China business remained strong in the quarter. Our TippingPoint segment achieved record revenue. The strength in these two segments, combined with stringent cost management, allowed us to offset weakness in other geographies and deliver substantially higher year-over-year profit."
