Starbreeze Working with Renowned Swedish Director on New IP

19.09.2011
Starbreeze, the team behind The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick, has announced that it is developing a new IP in collaboration with the award-winning Swedish film director Josef Fares.

You may not be overly familiar with Fares' work, which includes titles such as Jalla! Jalla! (2000), Kopps (2003), Zozo (2005) and Farsan (2010), but Variety Magazine declared him one of ten upcoming directors to keep an eye on back in 2006, and since that time his work has scored him critical acclaim in his home country of Sweden as well as a Nordic Council Film Prize.

"I love games, and I have been working on a games concept for quite some time," says Fares. "The more I worked with the concept, the more convinced I felt that this is a solid game idea. Together with Story Lab we created a prototype that we presented to Starbreeze, and they instantly liked the concept."

"Just minutes into Josef's presentation, we knew that this was a game that we wanted to develop," added Mikael Nermark, CEO of Starbreeze. "We started to work on the concept the very same day."

Details on what exactly this mysterious new project is are nonexistent right now. Starbreeze is also currently working on the for EA, set to release early next year.
