Phoenix Wright Movie on the Way?

Japanese director Takashi Miike has revealed that his next project is a courtroom drama based on a Nintendo DS game. Only one DS courtroom series springs immediately to mind...

Speaking with , director Takashi Miike noted during an interview about his new film Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai that his next project was a "very light comedy [...] a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS."

I don't know about you, but there's not that many DS-based courtroom dramas that I can think of. The only one which springs readily to mind is Capcom's Ace Attorney series, which is full of strong characters and ripe for exploration in film.

Miike is no stranger to video game adaptations, either, as back in 2006 he worked on a 40-minute live action prequel for Sega's Yakuza series. Besides this, he is well-known for movies including extreme violence and sexual deviancy -- although oddly enough, he has also gained acclaim for a number of family-friendly adventures over the years, making him working on an Ace Attorney movie not as strange an idea as it might first appear.

But will it match up to the spectacular stage version ?
