Bottom line is the New Xbox Experience (Avatars, movie service, new layout, etc.) will require 128MB of free space. Some of the console variants, like the Arcade, do not have the space necessary to download this major new update.

So on Monday, Microsoft revealed that it would be offering refurbished hard drives at a discount, and free 128MB memory cards, to those users who purchased an Xbox 360 with no memory solution.

Owners can redeem their card or drive by entering both the 12-digit serial number and the 12-digit Console ID at a special Microsoft web site.
