Due to a reporting error, the Industry Standard article, "Lessig, Rep. Conyers debate open-access academic publishing," posted to the wire on Wednesday, misstated the terms of the Consolidated Appropriations Act.

The debate was sparked by a single paragraph contained in the that requires scientists to post on the Internet all medical research published as a result of funding by the National Institutes of Health. Michigan Rep. John Conyers claims this open-access policy, barely a year old, violates copyright law, and in February introduced for the second time that would rescind it.
