Financial report: Rock Band still unprofitable

A recent post on gaming community site has revealed that a recent report from Credit Suisse has projected that the Rock Band series is still currently unprofitable, currently having lost parent company Viacom over $90 million.

While the series has been on the winning end of the battle of the bands of late, The Kartel points out a variety of factors leading to the deficit, including a high purchase price for Harmonix, sizable performance-based bonuses, low margins, and high royalties for .

Fortunately, for music game fans, it seems as though the series will be headed towards the black in 2010, as Credit Suisse apparently is forecasting a profit next year. With the series only increasing in quality, and the very intriguing Rock Band Network () coming in the next few months, the future does indeed look bright for the video game supergroup.
