EA Details Call of Duty Elite Competitor Battlelog

While we've heard about 's (a competitor to ), EA has only revealed exactly what the service includes today on the

Despite finding new ways to needlessly affix "battle" to the beginning of otherwise normal words, Battlelog is Battlefield's battle-riffic way to "build a network of friends, communicate with other gamers, and compare Battlefield stats with friends and foes alike." The main selling point, though, is that the service is completely free.

Also included in Battlelog is the Battlefeed -- a Facebook like listing of what's happening with your friends in-game friends; I'm guessing calling it "Battlebook" might've been too much. For hardcore Battlefield players, this system actually looks pretty handy -- it's a nifty way of keeping track of the game and other people's progress when you're away, without clogging up your regular social network feeds.

But while this all sounds great as a free service, it ignores one of the reason's you have to pay for top tier access to Modern Warfare's Elite: map packs. We'll probably learn how they address this subject in future blog updates.
