Cable & Wireless Worldwide announced it has landed a £12 million (US$19.66 million), five-year deal with Atkins, to deliver an IP-based network that will enable centralized IT architecture for 89 sites in the India and the UK. "We needed to move away from disparate and costly legacy processes, to a centralized system whilst increasing network resilience and storage, ensuring end-users were not affected. Cable & Wireless has been a long-standing partner of ours and we look forward to continuing this partnership," said Tim Dadswell, IT Transition Director, Atkins.

Cable & Wireless will supply IP Centrex through a personalized pin number. The service will use a 'one cost per user' revenue model, with no maintenance fees associated with telephony services, said the company.

Cable & Wireless will also provide an APM solution, which provides control and the ability to prioritize business applications, claimed the company.

"We've enjoyed a working relationship with Atkins and this announcement is an endorsement of our focus on delivering the best service to our customers. The communication solutions we're providing will allow Atkins to concentrate on running its business, while we help deliver cost savings," said Jim Marsh, CEO, Cable & Wireless.
