At the time of writing, both websites (aicc.org.in and supremecourtofindia.nic.in) were inaccessible. Anonymous soon issued a tweet taking credit for the attack and referring to an "Operation India" launched in retaliation for "Internet Censorship." The Anonymous attack comes in the wake of several Indian ISPs getting court mandates to prevent users from accessing video sharing sites (like Vimeo) and torrent sites (like The Pirate Bay) by blocking them on their networks.
Similar orders to block the Pirate Bay have recently been issued by UK and Dutch courts.
The Congress Party and the National Informatics Center (NIC), the organization that maintains the website of the Supreme Court of India, couldn't be reached for a comment.
