White iPhone 4, iPad 2 available in Hong Kong

Finally the and have hit Hong Kong.

Hong Kong aside, fans in 27 other markets will be able to buy the white device from Thursday.

These markets include Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Macau, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, and the US. More countries will be added to the list soon, Apple said.

The White iphone 4 has a suggested retail price of HK$4,988 for the 16G version and HK$5,888 for the 32G version, priced the same as the regular iPhone 4.

"The white iPhone 4 has finally arrived and it's beautiful," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

"We appreciate everyone who has waited patiently while we've worked to get every detail right," he continued.

Hong Kong mobile operator sent out SMSes to customers Wednesday night, notifying them of the white device's availability at its Central store starting midnight Apr 28. The firm said all its stores in Hong Kong will open earlier than usual at 8am Thursday morning.

According to an SMS, SmarTone requires a white iPhone 4 buyer to subscribe to its service and can only get one phone with his or her Hong Kong identity card presented.

Hong Kong and 11 other markets will also see the launch of iPad 2 on Friday April 29, Apple has announced.

The device was supposed to launch in Japan on March 25 but this was postponed after the devastating earthquake and tsunami in the north east of the country.

The iPad 2 with Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models will be available in Japan on April 28 and India, Israel, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Turkey, UAE,and UK on April 29.

A Wi-Fi only model will be available in China on May 6, and further international availability will be announced at a later date, Apple said.

Pricing will vary from country to country, so check with local resellers for accurate prices.
