Welcome to the TechHive Beta Blog!

25.04.2012
This summer we'll be launching an entirely new website, TechHive. This is not that site. At least, not yet. The TechHive Beta Blog is a small preview of what's to come.

My name is Jason Snell, and I'm leading the editorial team that will be building the new TechHive website, as well as continuing to publish PCWorld and Macworld in just about every conceivable format.

I've been writing about technology products since I was in college (see embarrassing photo). This is a job that combines the two biggest passions I've had since I was a kid: a love for writing and media, and a geeky enthusiasm for the latest tech stuff.

Now I get to play with tech toys for a living--yeah, it's a tough job, but someone has to do it. The rest of our team has stories similar to mine. Everyone who works here shares a real passion for technology.

Macs and PCs are just part of the rich tapestry of the tech world. There are iPhones and Android phones, iPads and Kindle Fires, Roku streaming video players, Canon T3i cameras, and of course Facebook and Google and Netflix.

Macworld and PCWorld do a great job serving their respective audiences, thoroughly covering the Apple and PC/Windows ecosystems, and will continue to do so. In the middle will sit TechHive, where we're free to cover smartphones and tablets, Android and iOS and Windows Phone, digital cameras and Facebook privacy settings and E Ink Bluetooth watches and whatever the next big tech thing is.

That's where we're headed, but it'll take us a few months to get there. And that's why we're launching this Beta Blog today. Over the next few months, will be trying out its voice here while we plan the launch of our full site this summer.

I love writing about technology because I truly believe the story of technology is the story of the future being written right before our eyes. Just in the past 10 years, tech advances have changed how we live our lives and interact with each other, in person and on the Internet. There's no story I would rather write about, and the same is true for the rest of the TechHive team.

So enough with the introductions! Let's launch this thing.
