Remains of the Day: Take five

11.02.2011
Looks like Apple's whipping out the shrink-ray for the iPhone. Elsewhere, HP poaches another Apple executive, Verizon begins slooooowly taking market share from AT&T, and iAd apparently has nothing worth snapping up. The remainders for Thursday, February 10, 2011 are yours for the taking.

I don't know about you folks, but when I look at my iPhone 4, I don't exactly think of it as a hulking brute. Still, it appears that Apple may be aiming for something a bit smaller--an "iPhone nano," as the long-rumored product has been dubbed. Then again, if they make the iPhone any smaller, they'll have to make a 3-inch iPad, and then things will have really gone off the rails.

Richard Kerris, former Senior Director of Worldwide Developer Relations at Apple, has a new gig at HP as the firm's of Worldwide Developer Relations. That means if the president of Worldwide Developer Relations kicks it, he's totally got the gig, right?

(Chitika Insights)

Mobile advertising firm Chitika is tracking the balance of Verizon and AT&T iPhones, based on the information it collects from its app partners. The good news, AT&T, is that you're kicking butt. The bad news is that you have no place to go but down.

And not the good kind of hurt. Yes, it seems that Apple's iAd program isn't all chocolate and kitten whiskers. The "fill rates" for ads appear to have dipped since the beginning of 2011. Shocking stuff, right? It's almost hard to believe that people don't want to watch commercials.

(The Onion)

Poor Tim Cook. He never could fill Steve Jobs's sneakers, could he? The worst part of this fake news, though, is the fake drubbing it gave Apple's fake stock price.
