First it was , now Apple's being sued for trademark infringement on iBooks, which apparently was the name of a small independent book publisher (I only read books by defunct indie publishing house you've never heard of). Apple, of course, used to have a laptop called the iBook, but apparently that trademark was limited to the computer realm. This has inspired a new business plan for me, though: sticking the letter 'i' in front of a bunch of random words and then collecting a hefty payday when Apple inevitably releases a product with the same name. iDrawers, anybody?

Leak info on an unreleased iPad and go directly to jail--at least in China. The several months before the device's release have been sentenced to prison. Besides getting paid for their troubles, at least one of the employees was given discounts on the case-maker's products--which I'm sure was totally worth the $4600 in fines and year of jail time she'll now serve.

Facebook planning to take on Apple via iOS? This is madness!
Sorry, somebody had to say it. So what is Spartan, besides (featuring a young Kristen Bell)? It's reportedly a platform targeting Mobile Safari that will allow Facebook to deliver HTML5-based apps to iOS users. And here I'd been so happy to consider the of Facebook games as one of my iPhone's best features.

RIM's first quarter financial results are out and the company sold a whopping 500,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets in the two months since its release. (Just as a reminder, . Not that I'm comparing. Okay, I'm comparing.) But the only thing worse than the fact that company is laying off a bunch of its employees is the fact that it can't decide whether it's a "Playbook" or a "PlayBook."
