During a court hearing in the case between Samsung and Apple, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh raised a iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in each hand and asked Samsung's attorney if she could distinguish which was which--from ten feet away, she could not. Gee, this would be a great basis for a new vision test.

Well, not so much Maps app as a screenshot Apple's Maps app superimposed on a Samsung phone. Also, be sure to check out the company's new virtual assistant, Syri. Motto: It's legally distinct!

Apparently, Tim Cook interrupted a meeting with Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son on the day the iPhone 4S was announced to field a call from Steve Jobs. The next day, the Apple co-founder passed away. Working up until the end--we'd expect no less from Steve and his passion.

On the topic of Steve, we'll wrap up today with this shot from Apple of Tim Cook speaking on Wednesday afternoon during the celebration of Steve Jobs's life held on Apple campus. The event apparently , as well as speeches from Cook, Apple chief designer Jonathan Ive, and Al Gore. Gore, we're told, was given the hook before he got a chance to sing.

- The photo-sharing site has launched its own iPad app, allowing users to browse photos, create a slideshow using music from their iTunes library, and share photos on Twitter, Tumblr, FaceBook, or via email. Those with 500px accounts can log in and see photos from their own stream, as well as their favorites and their friends' photos. Free.
- Version 3.8.6 of the Safari Extension for AgileBits's password management app merges the Logins for This Site and All Logins panels, changes the behavior of the AutoSave bar so it doesn't cover the page, enhances the in-browser editing of items, and features a bunch of other improvements for filling in Credit Cards, Logins, and Identities.
