Microsoft zwingt Cortana-Nutzern Bing und Edge auf

Wer die Sprachassistentin Cortana unter Windows 10 nutzt und sich bislang noch nicht mit dem Edge-Browser und der Bing-Suchmaschine anfreunden konnte, muss das jetzt wohl nachholen: Ab sofort funktioniert Cortana nur noch mit den beiden Microsoft-Diensten.

Die Sprachassistentin Cortana funktioniert unter Windows 10 ab sofort nur noch zusammen mit dem Edge-Browser und nutzt zum Anzeigen von Suchergebnissen die Websuche von Bing. Das teilt Microsoft über den eigenen Firmenblog mit. Als Grund für die Umstellung nennt Microsoft das Bestreben, den Nutzern von Cortana ein einheitliches und zufriedenstellendes Nutzererlebnis zu bieten. Das werde laut Microsoft allerdings dadurch behindert, dass Browser und Suchmaschinen von Drittanbietern die Suchanfragen über Cortana nicht so auswerten, wie Microsoft es sich vorstellt und somit Cortana weniger zuverlässig arbeitet.

Weiter erklärt Microsoft, dass Cortana von Grund auf dafür entwickelt wurde, mit dem Edge-Browser und der Suchmaschine Bing zusammenzuarbeiten. Um das eigene Argument zu stärken, nennt das Redmonder-Unternehmen auch einige Beispiel für das richtige Zusammenspiel zwischen den einzelnen Diensten. Wer beispielsweise in der Cortana-Suchbox unter Windows 10 nach "Pizza Hut" sucht, bekommt im Edge-Browser die Webseite des Lieferservice und von Cortana die nächstgelegene Filiale angezeigt. Bei PC-Problemen, wie eine nicht funktionierende Bluetooth-Verbindung, wird von Cortana ein Hilfe-Video über Bing abgespielt.

Die Änderung wird mit Sicherheit wieder für Diskussionsstoff bei den Windows-Nutzern sorgen, da solche Zwangsmaßnahmen in der Vergangenheit nie sonderlich populär waren. Natürlich ist es aber unabhängig von Cortana aber weiterhin möglich, den eigenen Browser mit der Suchmaschine seiner Wahl zu nutzen.
