Who's the king of RSS feed aggregators? It depends

23.02.2007
FeedBurner, an RSS feed-tracking and management service, released a report Thursday that analyzes the most popular feed aggregators on the Web based on content views and clicks back to a publisher's Web site.

The results? Google Reader tops the list of feed aggregators as far as views, which are the number of times a feed's content is downloaded and displayed. But, MyYahoo! is the largest driver of traffic back to a publisher's site, according to the report.

MyYahoo! had 54% of the clicks (returns to a publisher's site) in the survey with Google Reader pulling in 21%, FeedBurner said. The top four aggregators measured by clicks also included Bloglines, with 11%, and Netvibes, with 9%. Those four accounted for 95% of all Web aggregator clicks.

Meanwhile, Google Reader pulled in 59% of the views, according to FeedBurner. Google Reader, Bloglines, NewsGator and Netvibes accounted for 98% of all recorded views, FeedBurner said.

The survey used the 604,533 feeds that FeedBurner tracks on behalf of 347,000 bloggers, podcasters and publishers.
