Electronic payments provider VeriFone has relocated its headquarters from the US to Singapore to run its global supply chain management and research and development.

VeriFone Australia general manager Bryan Langton said the move was a strategic decision which will localize the company to its market and allow access to Singapore's growing infrastructure and labor base.

"This is a very significant move for the Asia-Pacific region ...where there is significant potential for growth for electronic payments systems," he said.

Langton said VeriFone will employ 69 staff to support research and development and marketing plans in the Asian-Pacific region and India.
