VA closes massive eHealth data exchange

05.03.2010
The Computerworld story "VA closes massive eHealth data exchange, cites medical record errors," which ran Friday, overstated the problems with the VA's electronic heath record system. The story on the wire has been corrected with a new headline, a new lead, and the addition of a new paragraph above the current fifth paragraph. Editors who used the story are asked to make the following changes:

The new headline reads: VA closes Web portal to eHealth records, cites data errors

The new lead reads: The electronic health record (EHR) network portal for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) was shut down this week after the VA found errors in some patients' medical data that clinicians downloaded from the defense network, according to a patient safety alert.

The new paragraph, to be inserted above the current fifth paragraph, reads: VistAWeb is the VA's intranet portal to eHealth records through CPRS, and it allows remote medical facilities access to the VA's VistA EHR system. VistA stands for Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture.
