US telco offers cloud services in HK

26.03.2012
A regional unit of a telecommunications provider in the United States has announced that it is offering managed cloud services through its data centre in Hong Kong.

Savvis, a CenturyLink company focused on providing infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises, said Hong Kong is the latest Asia Pacific country to offer the Symphony Dedicated, Savvis' private cloud solution. The announcement came shortly after Savvis launched in Japan the cloud services last month.

Savvis said it is encouraged by prospects in the region, particularly since Hong Kong is considered the gateway of enterprises into China, one of the largest economies in the world.

"The launch will help Savvis meet the rapidly rising demand for enterprise-class IT services in Asia," said Mark Smith, Savvis managing director in Asia. "An important market for enterprises, Hong Kong often serves as a gateway for global clients seeking to extend their presence into Asia. We are excited to provide organisations in this region with enterprise-ready cloud and managed services solutions."

Savvis said its Symphony Dedicated private cloud solution is designed for today's global companies as the solution offers scalability, security, and seamless migration.
