Ubisoft gives free games to hacked DRM-affected customers

25.03.2010
A little over two weeks ago, Ubisoft's recent PC releases--Assassin's Creed II and Silent Hunter 5--were rendered unplayable for hours to new players when a hacker attacked the two games' DRM servers. The players who were affected are now posting messages on stating that they have received reparation from Ubisoft, as the publisher has sent emails offering free DLC to some and the choice of one of five free games to others.

Players can pick from fairly recent Ubisoft releases as Tom Clancy's HAWX, Tom Clancy's Endwar, Heroes Over Europe, and Prince of Persia have all released within the last two years. All four were released before Ubisoft implemented its new DRM methods, which should allow gamers to have something to play if the servers are attacked again.
