Topio acquisition to strengthen customer ties

13.11.2006
NetApp's US$160 million acquisition of Topio will allow the storage vendor's 400 plus Australian customers to make the move away from rival vendors.

NetApp Australia marketing manager Mark Heers said Topio's heterogeneous data migration products will be sold alongside its storage offerings, allowing users to replicate their data on any vendor's system.

This includes the company's main rivals such as EMC, Hewlett-Packard and Hitachi Data Systems.

NetApp has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Topio, which allows customers to replicate, recover and protect data over any distance regardless of the underlying server or storage infrastructure.

Heers said local staff numbers will remain unchanged as a result of the acquisition.

NetApp currently has 100 staff in Australia.
