The Human brain has been mapped for the first time by the . Scientists released the on Friday after more than 4 years of extensive research to understand how brain works and aid new discoveries in disease and treatments.

The project analyzed two brains using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), diffusion tensor imaging, and by to extract the RNA to obtain a read-out of the 25,000 genes in the human genome.

The resulting detailed map of the Human brain sheds light on a thousand anatomical sites, and more than 100 million data points on gene expression and biochemistry.
