The agreement is part of the three-year Telstra Remote Working Solutions arrangement, and will see 1000 Telstra Wi-Fi hotspots added to the 60,000 global access points already available to iPass customers.

Telstra's wireless network, which covers the CBDs of Australian capital cities, 22 Qantas airport lounges, and McDonald's and Starbucks coffee shops, went through a certification process before being integrated into iPass' Global Broadband Roaming Network.

Telstra convergent solutions and sales managing director, Lynda O'Grady, said wireless technologies give business better flexibility and productivity.

"Wireless technologies can have a major impact on the business community by enabling employees to work more productively and with greater flexibility," O'Grady said. "Telstra Wireless Hotspot offers customers reliable and quality wireless coverage in key points of presence so they can work efficiently when outside the office."

John Cunningham, iPass Australia and New Zealand director of sales, said Telstra's deal will extend coverage in Australia of the wireless network which already covers America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific Rim.
