Baracoda serves up RoadRunners

Baracoda announced Tuesday the availability of the RoadRunners family of mobile, Bluetooth-enabled barcode scanners. Baracoda RoadRunners, which enable ISVs to quickly integrate mobile data capture into their wireless offerings, are targeted at mobile workers in the areas of pick-up and delivery, salesforce automation, inventory tracking, and asset management. The scanners fit easily into a pocket and feature an integrated stylus, advanced scanning capabilities, and support for Pocket PC 2002, Windows Mobile 2003, and PalmOS. The devices also work with Symbian and Java-based mobile phones such as RIM"s BlackBerry and Motorola i605 devices. By year end the Baracoda RoadRunners will have added functionality for reading RFID tags.

Flashline debuts product for managing SOA, Web services

Flashline has introduced Flashline for SOA, which provides governance, registration, and lifecycle management of Web services and SOA. The product focuses on architectural compliance and policy enforcement during planning and design phases of the software development lifecycle. The chain of relationships and dependencies is managed ranging from artifacts such as WSDL and XML schemas to business processes and applications.

Systinet provides SOA registry for Oracle Fusion Middleware

Systinet announced an agreement with Oracle to embed its SOA registry with Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware. Systinet Registry captures detailed service description and usage information into a centrally managed location. Integrating the registry with Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 helps provide a standards-based foundation and ensures consistency and control of enterprise SOAs.

VA Software, ThoughtWorks team up on development solutions

VA Software and IT consultancy ThoughtWorks announced they will integrate VA Software"s SourceForge Enterprise Edition collaborative development platform with the CruiseControl tool open sourced by ThoughtWorks. CruiseControl, the first continuous build system integrated into SourceForge Enterprise Edition, is designed to help clients manage risk and leverage a globally distributed workforce. It includes plug-ins for e-mail notification and various source control tools, as well as a Web interface to view the details of the current and previous builds.
