TCO triggers security buying decision: study

When it comes to security solutions, a recent study shows that companies consider the long-term effect of their IT investment on their bottom line.

Cost is one of the factors that companies consider when choosing a security solution, including a solution which tells who is accessing which across the network. This is one of the highlights of a recent study conducted by independent consulting group Rencana on different identity solutions available in the market.

In a study involving more than 50 customers and systems integrators, and identity solutions from Novell, CA, IBM, Oracle and Courion, Novell claims it stands out as offering the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) for its Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.

In a press statement, Novell said that over a five-year period, its Identity and Access Management solutions offer 25 per cent lower TCO compared to other solutions in the market.

The study involved analysing the licensing, configuration and operations costs between different solutions for big companies 2,500 to more than 40,000 users.
