SpikeSource adds to open-source app support lineup

10.08.2006
SpikeSource Inc. said Thursday it will provide third-party support to two more open-source applications, bringing its total to four.

The Redwood City, Calif. support provider has also signed up 13 new channel partners, bringing its worldwide total to more than 50.

SpikeSource provides pre-configured open-source application stacks that can run on either Windows or Linux. They include SugarCRM and the Drupal Web content management system.

SpikeSource also provides maintenance and technical support to companies that is faster to roll out and cheaper than buying a custom-installed equivalent from larger open-source services providers such as IBM or Hewlett-Packard Co, according to Corey Williams, director of product management for SpikeSource.

He declined to state how many customers the company has.
