After increasing its customer base in Australia by 40 percent in the past year, Perforce Software has finally set up shop in Sydney.

The Perforce software configuration management system (SCM) is a tool used to manage source code and digital assets in the enterprise.

In addition to application software companies, SCM is typically used by firms in the game development industry, pharmaceutical and financial services markets.

More than 200,000 developers at 4,000 organizations use the system worldwide and Asia Pacific customers include Canon, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, Toyota, Wipro and Sony.

The new Sydney office has been established to support customers in Australia, India and China, and sets the scene for additional growth in the region.

Service Integrity CTO Jothy Rosenberg, said the software is particularly useful when mixing open source and proprietary code in a product, which can put a company at legal risk.
