Roambi ESX to turn business data into apps

30.05.2012
Mellmo's have carved out a space in the mobile world by turning business intelligence data into visually compelling reports. Now the company is giving publishers and businesses a chance to use that interactive data in apps of their own.

On Wednesday, the company took the wraps off its Roambi ESX platform. The publishing tool will allow users to create the kind of interactive, data-packed reports seen in other Roambi offerings and provide them as apps that can either be distributed internally or downloaded from Apple's App Store.

Publications created via Roambi ESX can include text, high-resolution images, Roambi-powered data visualizations, and video. The resulting apps combine Roambi's core technology with a company's data and branding to better present detailed information that might otherwise be consigned to an Excel spreadsheet, according to Quinton Alsbury, Mellmo's president of product innovation. And those eye-catching, data-rich apps can be created without bringing in extra designers.

Mellmo expects Roambi ESX to appeal to information publishers, marketers, and any corporations that put out investor or sales reports--basically any company that "publishes content and sees a value-add in packaging data," Alsbury said.

An example of sorts can already be found on the App Store. was developed a few months ago using Roambi Flow for IMS and features news and interactive analytics covering global pharmaceutical makers.

Mellmo didn't announce specific prices for Roambi ESX, but pricing and discounts will scale with the number of licenses. Business can contact Roambi's sales department for more information.
