PokePark 2 and Mewtwo Event Announced

Is the Pokémon Company gearing up to release a sequel to Pokémon Black Version and White Version? Maybe. But if PokéPark 2 is the "big announcement" coming from Junichi Masuda on September 18th, don't expect a lot of rejoicing from the fans.

Bulbapedia reports that PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure is getting a sequel, while a Mewtwo Wi-Fi event will be held for Japanese gamers from September 26th to October 31st.

Game Freak founder Masuda will also be appearing on Pokémon Smash! -- a Pokémon TV show from Japan's TV Tokyo -- to make a big announcement. Fans of the franchise are expecting a new "core" Pokémon game or a brand new Pokémon to be teased, as that day marks the first anniversary of Pokémon Black and White. It wouldn't be out of left field, as Masuda previously debuted Zorua/Zoroark this way. Nintendo could definitely use some Pokémon power right now anyway, especially given the poor sales of the Nintendo 3DS. After all, Pikachu's best attack is "Pay Day."

But if the TV event is just to promote PokePark Wii 2: Beyond the World, well, that won't be as "big."
