Pinnacle to base Asian support center in Philippines

U.S.-based Pinnacle Systems, which makes consumer video editing software, has chosen the Philippines over India to provide help desk support for the Asian market.

Pinnacle will set up a support center in the country, which will start operations by January next year. The center will initially provide help-desk services to the Australian market and eventually, to other countries in Asia Pacific.

'Although India was an option, there is a drawback in accent. That is why the Philippines was the obvious choice,' Bertrand Godinot, Asia Pacific vice-president for Pinnacle Systems told Computerworld Philippines in an interview.

Godinot, along with other Pinnacle officials, visited the Philippines recently to help promote Pinnacle Studio Plus 10, the latest version of its core home editing solution.

Pinnacle will outsource its requirements to a local service provider. The company is working with a Canadian call center operator with a local partner, said Roxana Pavich, Pinnacle's regional sales manager for Asia Pacific.

According to Pavich, Pinnacle's aim is to provide local help-desk support worldwide. Both executives, however, declined to say how much Pinnacle is investing in the Philippines.
