OPENWORLD - Oracle, EDS to team on application management

19.09.2005
At the OpenWorld conference this week Oracle will announce a deal with EDS to combine both companies' application management and modernization services as a single offering.

Application modernization will integrate best practices, repeatable processes, and methodologies for moving legacy applications to Java J2EE platforms, according to a joint press release.

Mike Childress, divisional vice president of global applications and industry frameworks at EDS, said Oracle's hosted application management service will now be embedded in the EDS offerings.

Historically, Oracle and EDS were competitors in supplying these types of management and transition services with customers, contracting separately with each company.

The joint effort will focus on giving Oracle customers the benefit of its application management expertise while broadening EDS modernization and transformation services, said Juergen Rottler, executive vice president of Oracle support and Oracle OnDemand.

"We are great at managing the application stack but with EDS we can work together on the broader transformation," Rottler said.
