For some of us in the GamePro offices, this is exciting news. Now Kat can watch her Minnesota Vikings and I can cheer on my New York Giants... from the comfort of our PS3 consoles in California.

According to a joint PS3/DirecTV press release, NFL Sunday Ticket will allow PS3 users "up to 14 games every Sunday" and "full HD for every football game" while also offering access to DirecTV's Red Zone Channel."

To sign up, PS3 users who don't have DirecTV will be able to subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket at the seasonal price of $339.95. If you already have DirectTV, you can access the service on your PS3 for an additional $50.

That's a hefty chunk of change for a football package, but it's welcome news for gridiron fans who have been desperately waiting for an NFL streaming service to join the NHL Gamecenter and MLB.TV services already offered on the PS3. Still, the MLB.TV package will set you back a measly $120 for the entire year. I guess the NFL is keeping up with demand, but yikes.

The first Sunday of the season begins on September 11th, while the first game actually takes place the Thursday before between the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers. Any way you look at it, the season is nearly upon us and with the upcoming release of Madden, you can bet football fans are itching for the action to resume. Will the Eagles deliver on the preseason hype? Will Jim Harbaugh pull the 49ers back into relevancy? And will Kat be able to show her face around the office when her pathetic Vikings face-plant again? Yes, we're ready for some football.
