Cisco issues patches for multiple flaws

Cisco Systems Inc. issued patches last week for vulnerabilities in an authorization feature in its Internetworking Operating System and for a weakness that might enable a distributed denial-of-service attack on certain VPN concentrators. The first vulnerability affects all Cisco products that are running Cisco IOS Version 12.0T or later under specific circumstances. The second flaw affects Cisco VPN 3000 series concentrators.

Charges cause EMC Q4 profit decline

Profit at EMC Corp. tumbled in the fourth quarter because of charges for job cuts and repatriation of income earned abroad, among other things.

Avaya to resell Juniper security

Avaya Inc. has signed an agreement to resell Juniper Networks Inc. security products alongside its own IP telephony gear. Avaya will integrate the offerings and provide support for the combined system. The move extends an earlier agreement between the two companies to ensure that the tools could be integrated. Under the new pact, some channel partners of the two vendors can also offer that package.
