Namco unveils new, hybrid gameplay mode for Tekken 6

03.06.2009
It's not a new game announcement, but it's still pretty nifty. Amidst all the other goings-on at this year's E3, Namco has announced a brand-new gameplay mode for Tekken 6. They refer to it as the Scenario Campaign mode, but you can think of it as a cross between Tekken, Soulcalibur, and a third-person brawler.

Playable either in single player or cooperatively, the mode makes use of a new control scheme that integrates free movement into classic versus fighting, and sets you down in a roamable world more akin to a shooter level than a fighting arena. You'll be able to move through story-focused levels, taking on assaults from waves of weaker enemies with staves, guns, and hulking, mech-like robots, in addition to your fists and feet. Plus, anything you find in the story mode can be equipped on your character and brought online -- which could lead to some fairly insane online matches, if you ask us.

Scenario Campaign mode will be available in both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Tekken 6, come this Fall. While you're waiting, you might as well take a look at that's been coming out of this year's E3!
