Miyamoto: Mario Galaxy 2 will appeal to veteran gamers

In the latest issue of Nintendo Power, Shigeru Miyamoto sheds some light on Mario's forthcoming outing, . Miyamoto points out that though Galaxy 2 will "be accessible to new gamers," he feels that more hardcore types will find great appeal in the upcoming game. Miyamoto also hopes that gamers who've played through will have become "better" by the time Galaxy 2 ships.

I do believe that there is a lot here to appeal to the more veteran and more experienced gamers, and I think it's a title that they will obviously enjoy, but I really took it into consideration and tried to do our best to create a game that's accessible to new gamers as well. And, you know, we also built it with consideration that we believe that people who played through the first Mario Galaxy have become better players.

Though no date has been clearly set in stone, Super Mario Galaxy 2 should be reaching North American shores sometime in 2010.
