LogLogic to acquire security management vendor

22.04.2009
LogLogic Wednesday entered into an agreement to acquire for an undisclosed sum Exaprotect, a security event management company.

Log and compliance management vendor LogLogic, founded in 2002, will use Exaprotect's security technology to expand its product portfolio during a down economy, company officials say. Exaprotect provides enterprise security, threat and security configuration change management products to some 200 customers. LogLogic earlier this year partnered with Exaprotect to offer customers its LogLogic Security Event Manager product.

With a successful acquisition, LogLogic will be able to increase its customer count to more than 900 and expand its global presence, the company says. The Exaprotect buy will also help LogLogic link disparate product sets and offer a suite of security management technologies to better compete with the likes of ArcSight, IBM and RSA.

"We believe that the acquired products, combined with our recent announcement of new compliance management and database security products, form the industry's most comprehensive security management suite," said Pat Sueltz, CIO of LogLogic, in a statement. "LogLogic will be the only company selling the gamut from threat detection, security configuration change management, security event correlation, compliance workflow automation and database monitoring, integrated with our leading open log management platform."

The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter 2009.
