IT salaries falling, but developers in demand

The average salary across IT jobs is now £36,092 (US$54,859), according to IT recruitment firm CV Screen. It analysed 60,000 job advertisements in the first quarter of this year.

But CV Screen said there was "high demand" for developers of Microsoft SharePoint, .Net, and PHP scripting. Those developers earned average salaries of £42,357, £34,881 and £29,577 respectively.

Oracle developers earned an average of £39,517, while developers for the web earned £30,958. C# developers earned £35,125 and C++ developers £38,724, and Java developers £35,752. Graduates entering software development had an average salary of £24,016.

In networking, Cisco network support staff earned £32,933 and network managers had an average £40,692 salary. For open source staff, Linux systems administrators had an average salary of £36,198.

SAP consultants earned £52,684 on average, while Oracle DBAs earned £43,912.
