ISS establishes Australia, Southeast Asia presence

Internet Security Systems (ISS) Friday opened a security operations center (SOC) in Brisbane, Australia, to meet rising demand for managed security services.

This is the fifth global SOC to be established by ISS and the first to open in the Asia Pacific.

Other SOCs are located in Tokyo, Brussels, Detroit and Atlanta. The Brisbane-based SOC will manage an estimated 8000 networks as well as servers for over 1200 global customers.

Tom Noonan, ISS president and chief executive officer, said the decision to open an Australian SOC is to meet customer demand in Southeast Asia.

"In the past year, we have seen our managed security services business grow by over 30 percent in this region," Noonan said.

"The new SOC will enable us to provide more intimate support for this expanding division of our business and accommodate more sensitive Australian enterprise and government customers.
