iPhone outsells BlackBerry in September

23.10.2008
Apple sold more iPhones (6.9 million) in the September quarter than Research in Motion sold BlackBerrys (6.1 million). Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who unexpectedly appeared on Tuesday's company's quarterly earnings call to announce their new sales numbers, also complimented his competitor saying, "RIM is a good company that makes good products. It's surprising that after 15 months in the market we could outsell them in any quarter."

Apple execs also announced during the earnings call that Apple is now the third largest phone maker in the world when measured by revenue behind Nokia and Samsung, with Research in Motion the seventh largest.
