Apple will dominate the smartphone market in 2013, according to an analyst who claims when the iPhone 5 launches this autumn it will incorporate 4G LTE connectivity like that in the iPad 2. The analyst also notes that the Mac should benefit from "new market penetration opportunities" and become "a major contributor" to Apple's bottom line.

JP Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz : "We think that a combination of revolutionary hardware enhancements and software-driven services (i.e. Passbook, Maps, FaceTime over mobile) stand to reaffirm the iPhone as the leading smartphone."

Moskowitz has high expectations for the iPhone, predicting that Apple will see "strong unit sales".

On the other hand, he notes that he has more reserved expectations, or: "lower growth assumptions" for the iPad and Mac.

He does see that improving however, with the Mac gaining sales: "We think that the company's incremental market penetration opportunities can help the Mac become a major contributor to overall company growth in the coming years."

There's a report claiming that Apple will launch the iPhone in August, in time to meet the demand for Back to School orders.
