Australian Telecommunications User Group (ATUG) has launched a special interest group to work with Telstra on the upcoming core IP (Internet Protocol) network migration plan.

Announcing its formation at the ATUG 2006 conference yesterday, Rosemary Sinclair, ATUG managing director, said the group, titled IPSIG (IP Special Interest Group) will meet with Telstra "every couple of months" to understand the implications for end users and how any issues may be resolved.

Sinclair said the group will discuss practical effects from end users on Telstra's IP core network migration and beyond that the CDMA/3G migration and development of the billing system.

"This new IPSIG will also raise issues with suppliers for resolution in the best interest of both end users and suppliers."
