Investments pour into data transcription, software dev

This year's e-Services Philippines (ESP) generated over US$23.5 million in new contracts, with data transcription and software development outshining other IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) by capturing the majority of investments.

For foreign contracts, data transcription came first at $321,154 among the other sectors. But telecom products and services providers and data communication products providers got $4.2 million in contracts.

The highest business value was generated by co-location contracts (companies that invest by setting up offices, facilities, and operations in the country) at $16 million. For local contracts, software development got the highest contract value at P70 million (US$1.35 million), followed by finance and accounting services outsourcing at P5 million.
