HP Believes Virtualization is Here to Stay

HP thinks Virtualization has already made its mark in India. "Virtualization as a concept is already widely known in the market. Every company knows that it has to virtualize sooner or later. So, I don't think there is any need to market the technology per say. However there is a need to make sure that the doubts surrounding its management are answered and more off to make people realize that there are answers to it. By introducing these new ranges of products we are making sure that these questions do not arise," said Durgadutt Nedungadi, Director, Marketing & Alliances, Technology Solutions Group, HP India.

HP's new offerings support business needs that span the desktop to the data center. They are focused on lowering operational cost, mitigating the risk of a heterogeneous environment, and freeing resources to deliver new business services. These offerings are designed around three specific areas: applications and operations management, overcoming infrastructure barriers, and maximizing client architectures and support services.

Talking about how are they going to market their product, Nedungadi said that they plan to have and one-on-one interaction with the top companies of India and for their SMB section will be handled by their large System Integrators (SI's) and System Providers (SP's). "There are not more than 500 top companies in India. So we are going to have our sales people talk directly with them. However, we probably cannot handle all the sections. So, the emerging companies who we presume would like to go for virtualization directly and the SMB's will be handled by our SI's and SP's", added Nedungadi.

To overcome infrastructure barriers, where current infrastructure is not taking complete advantage of virtualization, new HP offerings are designed to lower costs, mitigate the risk of downtime and free up resources that can drive additional business services to support growth.

The HP ProLiant BL495c virtualization blade is the world's first server blade designed specifically to host virtual machines. The BL495c eliminates key virtualization performance bottlenecks of memory, data storage and network connections.

HP StorageWorks 4400 Scalable NAS File Services integrates the HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array, file servers, management software, and Windows® or Linux support to virtualize the connection between servers and storage. The solution lowers maintenance costs and mitigates the risk of data loss with advanced replication software.
