This announcement was recently made by Rita Lau, the secretary for commerce and economic development who addressed a gathering at the 10th GS1 Hong Kong Supply Chain Management Excellence Summit on 5 November 2010.

The theme of the summit was "Revitalising our Supply Chain to Accelerate Growth".

Hong Kong is one of the world's leading trade and logistics hubs, according to Lau who said it has achieved encouraging success in the past decades because of its unique geographical position, efficient infrastructure and well-trained and highly qualified workforce.

However, Lau emphasised the need to continually improve in order to sustain its leading position and encouraged the use of collective wisdom to identify areas that they can do even better.
